A waterfront festival in anticipation of September’s America’s Cup race between Dennis Conner and New Zealander Michael Fay will be held next month, it was announced Thursday.
The event, called Bayfest, is scheduled for Aug. 27 and 28 and will be concentrated in the B Street Pier area downtown.
The activities will include a parade featuring Conner, skipper of the Stars & Stripes; a flotilla of locally owned boats; and two regattas, one between a monohull and a catamaran and another involving celebrities.
A fireworks and laser show will be held the night of Aug. 27.
