I very much enjoyed and appreciated Polk DuBose’s article, “Hotel Adventures of a Single-Supplement Traveler” (March 19). I had to chuckle in a rueful sort of way because about four years ago I did almost the same trip. Mine, however, was a seven-day tour. I also had a couple of very nice rooms (London in particular) and a number of rooms that you couldn’t swing the proverbial cat in.
The latter were usually not only small, but as far away from the elevator as it was possible to get. My highlight (or lowlight) of the tour was in Brussels, where it was discovered that the hotel was overbooked and I was asked to share a room with the only other single lady on the tour. I protested vehemently, but to no avail, so I complied. However, the $14 rebate did not make up for the inconvenience. That was my first such experience. Since then, I have gone cruising!
