In the Weekend Escape on Yucca Valley (“Far Out Valley,” April 3), you fortunately missed some bargains left for us locals: John’s Place restaurant with two full-course dinners for $9 and Din Ho’s and Steffano’s, at $7 a plate. Then there’s the 30-year-old Hi-Desert Nature Museum, which places wildflowers next to the (illustrations by desert naturalist) Henry Mockel. Here we call Yucca Valley by its 50-year-old title: God’s Country...clear mountain air, four seasons and good desert life.
