European Drivers

Regarding Donald J. Sinex’s letter (“Road Phobia,” March 29): Au contraire!
His statement about the aggressiveness of European drivers has a certain validity. But they are scrupulous in following the rules of the road as they understand them. On the Autobahn, they may race up behind a car in the fast lane. But they will not pass on the right with reckless abandon the way drivers do in Southern California.
The secret to driving in Europe is to follow their rules: Stay out of the fast lane except to pass a slower vehicle.
Wouldn’t it be lovely if people would follow that same rule on the freeways of Southern California?
