The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will sponsor its second annual benefit 10K walk Saturday at Lake Casitas near Ojai.
The fund-raiser was founded by Cathie and Steve Knapp, who lost their son Dan three years ago to the genetic disease when he was 16. The event is held in his memory.
Each walker is asked to raise at least $75, although there is no minimum. Walkers with at least $75 in pledges will receive a commemorative T-shirt, a free Santa Maria-style barbecue meal and other giveaways.
Participants can register in advance online at https://www.cff.org/greatstrides or e-mail the Knapps at [email protected]. Pledge collection and walk-up registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 a.m. The barbecue lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m. and costs $7.50.
Proceeds from the event will benefit cystic fibrosis research and care. Corporate and individual donations are also being collected. For information, call 640-8556.
