Forty-six 3-year-olds will run tonight in four trials for the Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes. The 10 fastest will return for the $86,00 final March 5.
To be eligible for the Maiden Stakes, horses had to be foals of 2001 and non-winners as of Dec. 1, 2003.
One of the more talented horses running is Royal Medallion. A son of Royal Quick Dash, he won his most recent start and was second in a stakes Nov. 1 to Los Alamitos Million winner A Regal Choice. The gelding will be ridden by Joe Badilla Jr. in the first trial.
The card also includes the $13,600 Sweetheart Distaff, a six-furlong race for Arabian fillies and mares. In Lightning and Ammante top the field.
