Like Something Out of a Frankenstein Movie

Re “$704,600 Billed for Cadavers,” March 9: Not since I watched the Frankenstein movies showing the evil Igor dig up graves, snatch their bodies and deliver them to his master have I felt such revulsion. I’ve made peace with the fact that medical schools experiment on monkeys, rats and mice in hopes of furthering scientific knowledge. I understand that they need cadavers to teach medical students human anatomy. But I cannot accept butchering these bodies so that they become a veritable financial treasure to be sold on the open market to such entities as the cosmetics or pharmaceutical businesses.
I feel sorry for those families who have seen their loved ones’ bodies go to science, only to have them cut up, without their approval, and sold illegally for personal profit. I hope they win each of their lawsuits. Perhaps that will force the medical schools to keep a closer watch on what goes on within their walls.
