Re “Priest and His Son Are Bound by Poverty,” July 24
Father Arturo Uribe cited his “vow of poverty” as the reason he has no money to support his son who was conceived out of wedlock before Uribe was ordained. His vow of poverty should be called a “vow of community” because he is in fact protected from poverty -- his religious community pays his living expenses, health insurance, etc.
A more meaningful vow of poverty would include sharing with the poor, his son in particular.
