Classics of a Different Kind
I was amused and dismayed by Rick Wartzman’s assertion that he was introducing his kids to “great music” (“When Yes Is Wiser Than ‘Just Say No,’” From First and Spring, May 28). He never mentioned Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, et al. The kids deserve the best, and it’s less likely that musicians who perform “great music” are into the drug scene. But the real reason they need the classics is that they will enhance their lives in ways they cannot imagine.
