Canoe and kayak season has opened on central Oregon’s lakes, and deals abound, including pristine paddling tours and even beer-tasting trips.
The deal: Half-day canoe tours, priced at $47, take you through the glassy waters of a high mountain lake, through volcanic coves and past wildlife such as otter, mink, osprey and eagles. Includes transportation, canoe/kayak equipment/instruction and guide. No experience necessary. Kayak tours start at $55 per person. The company, Wanderlust Tours in Bend, Ore., is also offering “brews and views” beer-tasting canoe tours for $65. They are scheduled on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons through mid-September.
