Spring brings cherry blossoms to the nation’s Capitol -- and some cherry-themed specials at Keswick Hall at Monticello in Charlottesville, Va. The 48-room resort in the country near Thomas Jefferson’s estate has a package that includes a room upgrade, breakfast, wine-tasting and more starting at $265 a night.
The deal: This hotel is operated by the luxury Orient-Express company. The Enhanced Bed and Breakfast Package includes a free room upgrade when you make a reservation, English breakfast for two and wine-tasting for two at the resort’s Fossett restaurant. The room also comes with free high-speed Internet access.
And there are some Cherry on Top features in keeping with the season: a free private garden tour of the resort (must be reserved when booking), a cherry martini ($13.50 each), home-made cherry-blossom ice cream ($6) and cherry massage/scrub spa services ($110-$220).
When: The package is good now through April 30. The Cherry on Top amenities are available March 26-April 30.
Tested: I checked the seasonal specials at Keswick Hall’s website and found a room available at the slightly lower rate of $210 a night for March 28 and 29. With resort fee and tax, the total comes to $504 for two nights. The deal on this high-end resort checks out: The same room on the same night usually goes for $215 -- without any extras.
