Pyewacket, Trumpeter Take Top Cabo Honors

CABO SAN LUCAS — Roy Disney of Los Angeles Yacht Club took home most of the hardware in the Long Beach-to-Cabo San Lucas sailing race Saturday night.
Disney was first to finish and first overall in the International Offshore Rule (IOR) division with his 70-foot sloop, Pyewacket. Pyewacket won the President of the U.S. trophy for first overall on corrected time; the President of Mexico trophy for the best elapsed time, and the Sea of Cortez Trophy for the first IOR boat to finish on elapsed time.
In the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet division, the big winner was Ernie Townsend’s Swan-46, Trumpeter, of Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club. Trumpeter was a Class C entry. He won the President of U.S. trophy for first on corrected time in PHRF and the Swan Class Perpetual.
